February 2, 2017, in celebration of vocations, St. Joseph School hosted a career day. Guest speakers came from many career fields to discuss their jobs with students in grades 5-12. Speakers included Eddie St. Romain, Police Chief of Plaucheville; Jake Wallace, Director of Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home; Kenneth Moreau, Biologist with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries; Ray Ducote, Mortician and Director of Hixon-Ducote Funeral Home; and Heather & Philip Cormier, owners of Cooyon's Ole Time Grocery. Heather also spoke about her profession as a Registered Nurse and her journey to becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Each speaker stressed the importance of hard work, dedication and education. Thank you to all of our participants for celebrating this special day of Catholic Schools Week with us.
